Lady in Red: Bee Shaffer at the Met Gala 2018

Bee Shaffer, arguably the next “royal” – at least in fashion circles – to be married, looked gorgeous in bright red at this year’s Met Gala, which her mother Anna Wintour hosted as usual. This saturated red has been one of the biggest fashion takeaways in NYC this spring, a color spotted everywhere from evening gowns at the Met Gala to bright puffer jackets on the L train. (Spring weather took a long time coming.)

Also love how Bee’s fiancé Francesco Carrozzini (son of Vogue Italia’s Franca Sozzani) matched his socks to her dress. The couple that dresses together…

View From the Limo: Alexa Chung at the Met Gala 2018

As a slow caravan of black SUVs rolled towards the Met Museum, one window rolled down, and out looked Alexa Chung – with Karen Elson and Poppy Delevingne. Chaos ensued as all the teenagers nearby swarmed the car.

Ruth and the Selfie Seekers, Met Gala 2018

Ruth Negga passed by some admiring fans on her way to the Met Gala from the Mark Hotel (and yes, did pause for a selfie).

Processional: Anna Wintour at the Met Gala 2018

Anna Wintour walked from the Mark Hotel down 77th Street on her way to the Met Gala (while other celebrities waited for door-to-door car service, despite the massive traffic jam). The fact that her driver looks like he stepped out of a Renaissance painting only added to her look for theme of this year’s exhibition: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.

Girl With an Insect Pin, En Route to the Met Ball

An oversize insect pin conjured up the surrealist designs of Elsa Schiaparelli on this guest en route to the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Gala. A white silk dress and gray fur provide the perfect neutral but elegant backdrop.

One-Shoulder Gown, Outside the Mark Hotel

Not everyone who was beautifully dressed for the Met Ball was a movie star. I loved this one-shoulder gown with a vivid, gold flecked print outside the Mark Hotel – so glamorous and feminine.

Jourdan Dunn in Burberry Prorsum

Lace was everywhere on the runways for spring 2012. Supermodel Jourdan Dunn followed suit at last night’s Met Museum Costume Institute gala, wearing a strapless off-white lace gown by Burberry Prorsum.

January Jones in Atelier Versace

January Jones, seen here exiting the Mark Hotel for the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute Gala, looked stunning in a yellow Atelier Versace gown with a structured bodice and peplum. The necklace is Cartier.

Met Gala: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Burberry

Model and Transformers star Rosie Huntington-Whiteley left the Mark Hotel last night en route to the Metropolitan Museum’s Costume Institute gala. The face of Burberry Body, she naturally wore Burberry – a long, beaded bronze and black striped gown with long sleeves. It was such an elegant look, made more so by the classic updo and Irene Neuwirth earrings. And the man on her arm who’s photographing the crowd of photographers? That’s Mario Testino.
