Cream Colored Suit and Hat, Central Park Conservancy

The few men who attended the Central Park Conservancy luncheon last week dressed the part, like this guest in a beautiful cream colored suit and hat with a pale pink tie and pink pocket square. He’s carrying his dress shoes in that plastic bag – a practical choice on a rainy day.

All Black, Central Park Conservancy Luncheon

No matter what the season, occasion or current fashion, New Yorkers will wear black. It still confers instant elegance on the wearer, as with this guest at the Central Park Conservancy Luncheon last week, in black from head to toe.

Lady in Yellow, Central Park Conservancy Luncheon

Virginia Redfield

The weather may not have been cooperating, but that didn’t stop hundreds of fashionable ladies from attending the annual Central Park Conservancy Luncheon this morning. Traditionally, the outdoor luncheon calls for hats, a sartorial choice that seemed to be embraced with even more fervor this year on the heels of the royal wedding.

Most New Yorkers would be tempted to put on all black clothing in dreary weather, but not here. The women arrived in colorful suits and dresses, like this lady in a bright yellow suit, green bag and umbrella and a headpiece of flowers and red, gold and green ribbon.

Addendum: She is Central Park supporter Virginia Redfield

To further raise awareness of the millions of children in developing nations who are at risk of infection and disease because they don’t have shoes, TOMS started an initiative of volunteer walks in cities all over the world, One Day Without Shoes.
