Congrats to Caroline Issa, who was tapped to curate Sotheby’s “Contemporary Curated” sale in London, opening November 21st. Here she is at the Tate Modern for the Christopher Kane show in a very painterly blue velvet look.
Karlie Kloss is apparently a film buff – who knew? We are always discovering surprising things about fashion people we’ve been shooting for years. The supermodel is hosting “Movie Night With Karlie” on Freeform this winter with guests like Kendall Jenner and Jourdan Dunn. Because if you’re going to curl up for a movie, wouldn’t you rather curl up with Karlie?!
So many things to love about this look on Denni Elias. Such a pretty shade of pink, in gorgeous velvet that also looks quite cozy and comfortable!
Sofa prints! Who knew they could be so chic? But they’re popping up everywhere, especially on lightweight floral coats for fall. Pair it with a velvet top and you’ve got a Victorian vibe going.
Crushed velvet on Olivia Palermo. This velvet thing is happening! It looks particularly good in saturated colors like this emerald green.
At the Sies Marjan show in NYC, Aimee Song wore a dress in crushed velvet with white boots and fishnet stockings, several trends we would see throughout fashion month. For fishnets, the larger the knit, the better.
A beautiful blue velvet belted suit on Deena Abdulaziz at the Dior couture show.
Loved the details in this look on Irene Kim at Sacai: the strappy black leather overalls, the cutouts in the sweater, and the crushed velvet boots. Even better: her outfit matches her hair!
Natasha Zinko brought a pop of color to the Elie Saab couture show in Paris – and a ’70s look replete with purple glasses and blouse and yellow velvet pants. Expect more wild colors this fall as traditional autumn colors give way to the whole rainbow.
At the Maison Martin Margiela show, Gilda Ambrosio wore two trends we’ve been seeing a lot of: velvet and choker necklaces. And the two things go together so well, in a Stevie Nicks kind of way.
JJ Martin, who just started a new website about vintage clothing and beautiful Milan interior design, La Double J, wore a vintage floral print velvet coat to the first day of shows.
Love the saturated moss green of her velvet blazer and how it plays off the green in her tweed pants. Also, burgundy and green is one of my favorite color combinations for fall.
Another twist on the colorblocked dress, this time in various shades of blue denim, cotton and velvet on a model off duty after the Armani Privé show.
