Last year at this time, Gilda Ambrosio wore the exact color purple (Pantone’s “ultra violet”) that would end up being the Pantone color of year for 2018. Ahead of the curve as always!
We saw so much of this ribbed Calvin Klein sweater with cut-outs at the shoulder during fashion month. Carlotta Oddi wore hers with a paneled maxi skirt and boots. Cut-outs at the shoulder are still on-trend in knits and silk tops, although with a hard, straight line like a tank top, not the scooped out shoulder that has been done ad infinitum.
Gabriel Kane Day Lewis stood out from the crowd in a pale purple suit at the Haider Ackermann show in Paris.
A mix of spring patterns was a nice harbinger of the warm weather to come.
At the Sies Marjan show in NYC, Aimee Song wore a dress in crushed velvet with white boots and fishnet stockings, several trends we would see throughout fashion month. For fishnets, the larger the knit, the better.
Natasha Zinko brought a pop of color to the Elie Saab couture show in Paris – and a ’70s look replete with purple glasses and blouse and yellow velvet pants. Expect more wild colors this fall as traditional autumn colors give way to the whole rainbow.
Give it a whirl: Eleonora Carisi spun around in a purple fur coat and pink and purple print dress at the Costume National show.
Another colorful cohort from Teen Vogue: Marina Larroude wore a great purple print dress to the Stella McCartney show.
Little did we know when we spotted new model Binx Walton after the Chanel fall ready-to-wear show in Paris that she would be part of the label’s fall ad campaign as shot by Karl Lagerfeld. She layered an oversize black sweater with a silver padlock necklace and a sheer purple maxi skirt and mid-calf boots – a look that went well with the hair and makeup from the Chanel show. Close-up, after the jump. (more…)
Valentina Siragusa of Factory Blog wore an oversize purple silk blazer at the Gucci show yesterday. Look for more silhouettes like this in coats and blazers for fall 2013.
I loved what Sofia Sanchez wore to last week’s couture shows, especially this colorful print dress by Mary Katrantzou at the Dior couture show. This was on a very hot day, and she still managed to look calm, cool and quite chic.
Russian designer Ulyana Sergeenko appeared at Paris couture this week with a stylish new pixie haircut. At the Elie Saab show, a day after her own well-attended couture show, she paired a purple silk sheath with lace sleeves with Chanel’s wooden box bag and red stilettos.
Model Joan Smalls has always had super cool, understated personal style. She exited the Fendi show in plum-colored lipstick from the runway (look for more of this come fall 2013), matching fur scarf, knit hat, Givenchy clutch and Margiela blazer. Oh yeah – and there’s a Dracula movie in town whose posters made for a dramatic backdrop!
Sofia Sanchez wore a Rodarte leather fringe jacket to the show yesterday. Close up of her cool metal purse, after the jump. (more…)
As painful as it may be to wrench yourself away from pretty fall weather, it’s time to start thinking about coats. Though most people seem to go for the most basic, utilitarian coats around, there really *will* be enough cold days in a New York City winter to wear an interesting patterned coat fairly often. This guest at Paris fashion week paired her black and white coat with an aubergine clutch by Louis Vuitton.
