Today in models speaking out: Edie Campbell penned an open letter to WWD, questioning the fashion community’s response to sexual abuse in the industry. As the New York Times has also pointed out, is the problem really limited to just one photographer, Terry Richardson? Really? Campbell also brings up the issue of male models who have suffered abuse – something we hear much less about. Definitely worth a read – and worth considering if victims can start naming names, as has happened in almost every other creative industry now, without fear of getting blacklisted.
Here’s a throwback Thursday pic of Campbell in 2013 after she closed the Louis Vuitton show covered in Stephen Sprouse-style body paint. If I remember correctly, she actually flew back to London immediately after the show still covered in body paint.
The trend of mixing prints is not going anywhere anytime soon, especially in menswear. Alex Badia mixed stripes with stripes with plaid at the Michael Kors show.
A Beatles tee and flared plaid pants for some retro cool on Helena Bordon in NYC.
Au revoir, Paris! I’ll miss you, Milan, London and all the fun fashion week crowd. Merci beaucoup for everything! Especially Giovanna and Anna for this fun moment outside the Hermès show. A bientot until next season, and in the meantime there will be many more photos to come.
It’s really beginning to feel like fall in NYC, which makes me wish for all the rich colors and fabrics of the season. One for the New York Times and one of my favorite menswear looks from Paris – Robert Ferrell in a plaid overcoat with plaid bag. Love the combination of colors and patterns.
Prince of Wales plaid popped up everywhere during fashion month on women and men. This lightweight material works well as transition wear during the spring. At Valentino, Marianne mixed it with an orange sweatshirt and retro sunglasses.
Hey New Yorkers, don’t get too used to this nice weather, because tomorrow, well you know – with Shiona Turini in a hoodie in the rain outside the Public School show.
Flashback to last winter’s deep freeze: if in doubt, pile on the layers, as Taylor Tomasi Hill did outside Milk Studios during last February’s New York Fashion Week.
Yoyo Cao arrived at the Loewe show in a cadet cap and Prince of Wales plaid pants suit. Surprisingly popular among fashion week guests, pant suits have shed their dowdy image and now feature updated, flattering cuts and colors that would work both in and out of the office.
Forest green and Prince of Wales plaid are classics for fall, but the style is new on Natasha Goldenberg at the Carven show in Paris. Look for more – much more! – of the broad shoulder cut of this jacket and midi length of the skirt – they were all over the runways for spring.
Molto Italiano: a classic menswear look on Fabrizio Oriani of Gentlemen’s Wear Daily outside the Emporio Armani show. And yes, more mustard yellow!
New blogger Samantha Angelo of The Eye Travels turned heads this fashion week season with her statuesque beauty and flair for mixing different pieces. Outside the Chloe show in Paris, she belted a long Dries Van Noten coat, part trench and part duster, over an Acne dress with a pointed collar and Mary Jane-style Charlotte Olympia shoes. The military subtext to the outfit may especially work for another reason: she actually served in the Marines as a clarinetist in the United States Marine Band! Certainly a multi-talented player on the fashion scene.
Blogger Camila Coelho looked lovely in pink plaid at the Carolina Herrera show in New York yesterday. Detail shot of the Dior bag and shoes, after the jump. (more…)
Annie Georgia Greenberg kept cool on a super hot day last September in a flowing silk plaid dress that caught the breeze outside the Prabal Gurung show.
A good example of how the 70s are coming back in a way that’s quirky but not at all cheesy. Those glasses!
Update: This is designer Jennifer Fisher of Jennifer Fisher Jewelry!
