The return of the humble turtleneck as a fashion It item never ceases to surprise, whether it’s Sharon Stone wearing one to the Oscars in 1996 or a whole new generation of fashion enthusiasts embracing them now. Trendsetter Linda Tol incorporated a turtleneck sweater into a winter white outfit outside the Ann Demeulemeester show. Added bonus: they’re actually warm.
Love this sporty but urban look on model Elisabeth Erm after the Rochas show last winter. Again you can see when the mercury really drops, the fashion set layers a leather jacket underneath a winter coat.
We had a surprise sighting of model Grace Mahary outside the Rick Owens show, which she attended as a guest of the designer. Take a cue from her and go for leather pants in this cold weather. If there was ever a time for them, it’s now!
Look for more graphic prints like this one seen at the Maison Margiela SS2015 show on Vogue’s Virginia Smith. John Galliano debuted as Maison Margiela’s new head designer with a couture collection today that has received very positive reviews.
W Mag’s Karla Martinez looked impeccably stylish in a great Celine scarf outside the Comme des Garçons show in Paris. I love how she layered different colors and textures to make a unified whole.
A cute look spotted yesterday on Madison Avenue and a great example of how to wear sunglasses with a winter hat. Another thing to note: fashion people are not letting go of cropped pants and bare ankles, no matter how cold it gets!
Let’s hear it for the boys: WWD announced yesterday that the CFDA is starting up a separate men’s fashion week in New York this July. And why not? American men’s fashion is extremely influential around the globe. At the Peter Som show in NY, one of those influencers, Kyle Anderson of Marie Claire, wore an amazing MBMJ Nascar-inspired jacket, mesh shirt and a flight suit, partly undone and tied around his waist.
“These are my wings,” Garage Magazine’s Michelle Elie said of her leather Comme des Garçons halter and sleeves outside the Kenzo show in Paris. A huge supporter of designer Rei Kawakubo, Elie treats fashion like wearable art, not just something to wear. It’s always refreshing to see during fashion week. The shorts are Jil Sander.
Who would have thought that Fendi bags would still be so popular more than a decade after the Fendi baguette craze? And yet that seems to be the case, with many a fashionista toting them around this past fashion week season. They’re also a little more practical than investing in just the “monster” charm. Helena Bordon paired a Fendi bag with blue and white pajama style pants and an orange coral necklace at the Nina Ricci show in Paris. Full length shot, after the jump. (more…)
Welcome to Paris Fashion Week! The weather has cooled off a little here, which means the fashion flock is breaking out jackets, boots and pants. Brazil’s Christina Pitanguy wore black layers to yesterday’s Cedric Charlier show, mixing a black Prada jacket with Stella McCartney pants, shoes and bag by Saint Laurent and a crystal shark tooth necklace by a Brazilian designer.
More black and white! Obviously something is in the air. Model Saskia de Brauw wore a black cotton suit with white trim after the Marc Jacobs show. Love the sheer panel and also her mussed hair.
