RIP to one of my fellow street style photographers, the Parisian Nabile Quenum, who contributed to Vogue, New York Magazine, and many other outlets. He was one of the best-dressed photographers out there and had a wicked sense of humor. I’m not sure who I’ll turn to anymore to make fun of Parisians and their ways – I loved ribbing him about this stuff. Repose en paix, notre ami.
It’s really beginning to feel like fall in NYC, which makes me wish for all the rich colors and fabrics of the season. One for the New York Times and one of my favorite menswear looks from Paris – Robert Ferrell in a plaid overcoat with plaid bag. Love the combination of colors and patterns.
A shiny leather coat on Vanessa Hong added some rainy day chic to the Paris shows. Leather coats like this one by Ellery were a popular and practical choice on fashion week guests.
It’s hard to resist model Teddy Quinlivan, who exits every show in a quirky outfit in a style that’s entirely her own and puts on a huge magazine-shoot-esque performance for us photographers. This move was all Teddy. After the Margiela show in Paris, she leapt past in a pale pink bustier, cropped black jeans and a jaunty military hat, still in her runway makeup by Pat McGrath. Wow.
Spring is the time to experiment with different textures and colors now that we can finally shed some layers. Model Irina Liss exited the Margiela show in a black and white leather jacket with sheen. A long skinny silk scarf is the perfect spring accessory.
One of the best looks Kristina Bazan has worn all season: this slit skirt and top by Mugler. Sexy and chic.
Look for more graphic prints like this one seen at the Maison Margiela SS2015 show on Vogue’s Virginia Smith. John Galliano debuted as Maison Margiela’s new head designer with a couture collection today that has received very positive reviews.
One of my favorite new It girls is Cosima Ramirez de la Prada, daughter of designer and Spanish baroness Agatha Ruiz de la Prada. She wore a cherry bedecked skirt of her mother’s design to the Maison Martin Margiela couture show in Paris.
Of all the menswear looks we saw on the streets at couture, this was one of my favorites. It’s so simple but so good – just a heathered blue and white sweater, jeans, boots and pale gray blue helmet (that somehow goes with the sweater). Also note that this is a rollneck sweater, similar to what we’re seeing by Chloe for fall 2014. Never say never again, kids.
