Rodarte

It’s called Rodar-TAY, darling. A select few braved the frosty atmosphere for the Rodarte show and arrived wearing some lovely, warm clothes for the occasion.

Sometimes, all it takes is a coat in just the right color, like the peachy nude of this overcoat, paired here with a fur hat and beige scarf. (more…)

Marc Jacobs Show

Marc Jacobs has always been a master at creating fairy tales, so it seemed more than fitting that on the night of the Marc Jacobs show, snow began to fall as guests left the scene. The snow globe effect prolonged the magical feeling of the show itself, where “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from Frederick Sanchez’s soundtrack set the stage for a dreamy collection.

A tweed menswear-style double breasted coat and satchel bag echoed the relatively conservative (for Marc Jacobs) clothes in the fall 2010 collection. (more…)

Diane von Furstenberg

An American fashion maven and one of the originators of New York Fashion Week in Bryant Park, Diane von Furstenberg always draws a celebrity-laden and appreciative crowd to her shows. Guests arrived suitably glammed up for the occasion.

A white lace dress brings in the spring, but the black biker jacket and tights make this a great transitional look for the end (thank God) of winter. (more…)

Malandrino

Though her latest designs aren’t even on shelves yet, there was an interesting interplay between Catherine Malandrino‘s Fall Winter 2010 collection and what the fashionable guests wore to the presentation last week. Leopard, fur and leather were just as present on the models as they were outside the show.

Alexander Wang

A huge amount of buzz surrounded Saturday’s show by Alexander Wang, the fashion darling who’s built a multimillion-dollar clothing and accessories empire by the age of 25. A crowd of key fashion players came to the show, though the collection itself was disappointing compared to Wang’s previous seasons. The fabulous clothes on all the guests, however, were inspiration enough.

Ohne Titel

Ohne Titel, an indie label started by two Lagerfeld alums, is one to watch. The crowd at the show was much like the fabulous fall collection itself: chic but relaxed.

A black watch cap and wedge heels are winter standards this year. (more…)

Christian Siriano

Outrageous fashion was the norm on several guests outside the Christian Siriano Fall Winter 2010 show on Friday. Fans and friends of the designer arrived at the backstage entrance in Bryant Park looking for celebrities – including a glimpse of Siriano himself.

Street Chic: Mr. Brainwash Party

Who is Mr. Brainwash? Is he the videographer Thierry Guetta, who set out to do a documentary on British street artist Bansky then became a street artist himself, or, as film critic Manohla Dargis suggests, is Bansky just playing a prank on all of us? You could closely examine the new exhibit Mr. Brainwash: Icons on West 13th Street or check out the (faux?) documentary “Exit Through the Gift Shop,” both opening tomorrow, for any clues. Or you could stop asking questions and start dancing and drinking champagne: neither Mr. Brainwash nor Bansky will stop you.

Ports 1961

Ports 1961 has gained more and more attention since the brand started showing in the Bryant Park tents at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week a few years ago. Designer Tia Cibani’s ethereal but practical designs attracted top editors and trendsetters to Thursday’s show.
