Loved the clean sculptural lines and fall colors of this Salvatore Ferragamo dress on Giovanna Battaglia, spotted outside the Carven show in Paris. Another styling tip to note: turtlenecks are still going strong for winter 2015/2016.
New blogger Samantha Angelo of The Eye Travels turned heads this fashion week season with her statuesque beauty and flair for mixing different pieces. Outside the Chloe show in Paris, she belted a long Dries Van Noten coat, part trench and part duster, over an Acne dress with a pointed collar and Mary Jane-style Charlotte Olympia shoes. The military subtext to the outfit may especially work for another reason: she actually served in the Marines as a clarinetist in the United States Marine Band! Certainly a multi-talented player on the fashion scene.
Just sort of, you know, crossing the street on a regular day in Paris – for Michelle Elie that is! The Comme des Garcons connoisseur wore a red creation by the label to the Haider Ackermann show this weekend.
Designer Ulyana Sergeenko arrived at the Dolce & Gabbana show in Milan in a black lace dress – and so did her daughter, who accessorized with an ice cream cone bag.
Gilda Ambrosio was one of the first to wear the new Moschino “fresh” themed collection at the shows in Milan. It’s definitely a catchy design – and is rapidly catching on among the fashion set.
A great look in an Anna K dress on Eleonora Carisi at the Lacoste show. Valentino bag. And yes, turtlenecks are still going strong.
Ella Catliff of La Petite Anglaise wore a great fringed Rebecca Minkoff suede dress to the Misha Nonoo presentation in New York. Rich reds and oranges are a strong color trend for fall 2016.
Model Liya Kebede wore a bright orange cotton frock to the Derek Lam show in New York yesterday, pairing it with patent leather ankle boots.
It’s been a pleasure to see the always-smartly-dressed fashion consultant Yasmin Sewell around town this New York fashion week. At the Thakoon show yesterday, she mixed summer and fall with a lace maxi dress and straw boater tempered with a belted black blazer.
Isn’t it romantic? Fashion power couple Justin O’Shea and Veronika Heilbrunner arrived at the Jason Wu show in New York in all black. They both have great Instagram feeds that detail their travels around the world.
One of my favorite looks from NYFW day one: Rachael Wang in a floaty, romantic dress by Rodebejer, which she styled with a pom pom scarf tied around the waist.
Another good idea for a simple but polished fashion week “uniform” when it’s 90 degrees (32 degrees Celsius) in New York: a lightweight white cotton dress with black boots.
It may be too hot to throw on a suede jacket, but it’s never too soon to bust out the latest accessories. Jen Mankins of the highly influential Brooklyn boutique Bird ushered in the fall last September with a blue Mansur Gavriel bucket bag and sculptural necklace.
Though fall has its pleasures, it’s always a struggle to let go of summer, even when dressing for New York Fashion Week in September. But you don’t have to pack away all your summer favorites just yet. Alexis Bryan Morgan, now of Rent the Runway, paired a lightweight crimson dress with tassels and embroidery with heels and a structured olive green bag for an outfit that added a businesslike edge to a summertime staple.
