If a fashion blogger becomes a mother, what happens to her Instagram feed? WWD today reports on the “baby boom” among fashion bloggers, many of whom started out at age 22-24 and are now nearing 30. Seen here at Coach in September, Chiara Ferragni was several months pregnant at the time, unbeknownst to us, and now sonogram videos and other intimate family moments are interspersed with fashion posts. Many Instagram posts by Chiara and other bloggers like Chriselle Lim, Eva Chen and Arielle Charnas, however, differ from the previous generation’s endless stream of baby pics on Facebook. They’re carefully posed – or hilariously unscripted – moments with kids, who often happen to be wearing great outfits. Instagram’s own Eva Chen was the first-to-market on this trend. This trend’s got legs: pajama dressing has been around for a couple seasons now, but this fall the looks are more sophisticated, like this navy silk pajama set on Chiara Ferragni. We noticed many women dressing for evening shows and dinners in silk pajamas. The style has particular appeal because it’s so comfortable, which is the way women really want to dress now.
One of the biggest trends at Coachella 2016 was not a particular piece of clothing but the fact that friends are coordinating their outfits. Sisters Valentina and Chiara Ferragni wore a crochet and lace dress respectively, and Valentina’s pearl applique went well with Chiara’s tiara. The two star bloggers know a thing or two about how social media influences women’s sartorial choices. Girls can get dressed “together” for an event even if they are miles apart.
Takin’ it to the streets: Chiara Ferragni wore a studded leather garage-type vest (vintage) to the Tommy Hilfiger show yesterday, an apt choice considering the industrial background at many of the shows during New York fashion week. And there are those Alexander Wang boots again!
Really liking the look of this caramel-colored suede for spring 2015. Apparently everyone agrees with me, because suede pieces similar to this Chloe shorts and jacket combo on Chiara Ferragni are selling out everywhere.
Super blogger Chiara Ferragni mugged for the cameras at Pierre’s street style studio in the Tuileries – while wearing a beautiful floral dress, no less!
There’s knitwear, and then there’s a work of art: that’s what Chiara Ferragni wore yesterday to the Hermes show in Paris, in the form of a cabled Delpozo sweater embellished with knit ruffles and fringes of yarn. Super cool! And no, your grandma probably could not make this for you.
One fun thing about the Chanel show is seeing all the clothes and bags outside the show in real life on real girls. Chiara Ferragni looked fab in a colorful Chanel dress and bag from the F/W 2014 supermarket-themed collection.
Fashion Week has become a sneak preview of a different sort: some of the top bloggers attend the shows wearing looks from collections that haven’t even been released to the public yet. At the Emporio Armani show, Chiara Ferragni wore head-to-toe Fendi resort – a colorful collection that’s distinctive for its polka dots.
Chiara Ferragni of The Blonde Salad wore a look straight off the Burberry runway to the Emporio Armani show in Milan: a pink lace Burberry skirt and clear plastic jacket, both embellished with jewels. Such a pretty and feminine look for spring.
Chiara Ferragni of the Blonde Salad wore a great varsity jacket from Opening Ceremony to the Herve Leger show – an apropos choice since the actual Olympics opening ceremony happened the night before. The plaid scarf and over-the-knee boots strike a balance between sporty and sexy.
