My friend Jib Girl served this clever passed dessert/hors d’oeuvre at a recent barbecue and was the envy of all the other cooks at the party. They may look like sliders, but they’re actually cookies assembled to look like mini hamburgers. Since they’re assembled from store-bought cookies and ingredients, they’re easy to make en masse for a crowd. Think of them as a very kid-friendly summer BBQ contribution.

Be forewarned: Make this recipe once, and you may be asked to bring them to every party going forward.
Recipe: Cookie Burgers
Shredded coconut
Green food coloring
Nilla wafers
Keebler Fudge Shoppe Grasshopper (Mint) Cookies
Red and yellow cake decorating icing
Honey
Sesame seeds
Mix shredded coconut with food coloring until it turns lettuce-green.
Assemble the “burgers”: on a cookie tray, lay Nilla wafers flat side up, top with Keebler chocolate grasshoppers, red and yellow cake icing and coconut. Top with remaining Nilla wafers.
Mix a little honey with hot water to make a honey-based simple syrup. Brush the tops of the cookie burgers with the syrup and sprinkle sesame seeds on top. Pat with your fingers to get them to stick. To serve, arrange cookie burgers on a tray surrounded by potato sticks.
Serves: As many as you want – buy cookies and remaining ingredients accordingly.
