Ports 1961
Posted by bellastraniera - 13/02/10 at 02:02 pm Ports 1961 has gained more and more attention since the brand started showing in the Bryant Park tents at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week a few years ago. Designer Tia Cibani’s ethereal but practical designs attracted top editors and trendsetters to Thursday’s show.
On the runway, pale dove gray is wonderfully flattering and is emerging as a big color for fall 2010.

Joe Zee of Elle in a simple gray suit.

Whitney Port and Roxy Olin of The City. Love Whitney Port’s light colors – off white and pale pink with a metallic sash – harbingers of spring.

Talk about peacocking – head-to-toe winter white and a full length fur really make a statement – especially on a man.

Love the boyish hat combined with the classic (Chanel?) jacket and Hermes bag. Note the narrow trousers, because these are also on the runways for fall 2010.
Fur hats are key in this frigid weather. A red miniskirt really pops.
Style icon Lynn Yaeger wears a parka with fur trim and carries a surrealist Lanvin bag.

Chunky platforms get an update for spring 2010 – now in color!

More gray on the Ports 1961 runway with this cloak-like coat. Beauty: Untamed curls and natural makeup.

Leather caps by Berlin designer Annette Becker of Aehrenkranz added an Amelia Earhart vibe.

High-tech fabrics and Victorian sewing techniques made for an interesting mix in the clothes, like this shimmery gray gown with a jeweled sash.

The models’ untamed curls emphasized the naturalistic approach.

Outside the show, a puffy green parka is chic and practical. If in doubt, go military for the end of winter moving into spring.

Two Voguettes in short fur jackets.

I’ve seen a couple of this oversized red plaid scarves, paired here with shredded black tights. And yes, fashion people do wear snow boots!
