Marc Jacobs has always been a master at creating fairy tales, so it seemed more than fitting that on the night of the Marc Jacobs show, snow began to fall as guests left the scene. The snow globe effect prolonged the magical feeling of the show itself, where “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” from Frederick Sanchez’s soundtrack set the stage for a dreamy collection.
A tweed menswear-style double breasted coat and satchel bag echoed the relatively conservative (for Marc Jacobs) clothes in the fall 2010 collection.
Leopard scarf and high-volume blond hair creates a retro glam look.
A red leather jacket and black and white striped dress make a graphic statement. Note, too, that she is wearing sheer black pantyhose with her black boots.
A gold dress sets the tone for a glam night out on the town.
Beth Ostrosky Stern arrived just as the snow started in a beaded jacket and cropped black silk trousers.
The layered look: She’s ingeniously layered a fur coat with fur-trimmed bracelet sleeves over a longer athletic jacket. The resulting outfit is pretty seamless.
More leopard! This time paired with black patterned tights.
The bright blue puffer jacket and neon green shoes recall the colors of Jacobs’ fall/winter 2009 collection.
This menswear look has a little sparkle in the sequins on the gray blazer and sparkly head wrap.
Military for fall 2010: A woman in an olive green parka with bright yellow fur trim exits the show.
I love Anna Wintour’s expression in this shot – like a kid in a candy store after seeing the MJ collection. She wears a silk Chinoiserie-embroidered coat and black silk boots.
Capes and ponchos: Don’t forget them for fall 2010! They will be a key piece of outerwear, like this gray cape worn here with a fur trapper hat.
Mixing high and low with a black fur coat and embellished black wool knit watch cap.
High style: gold platform sandals, fur coat, and oversize bag (toted by her also-stylish assistant?).
Black jeans and a glossy take on motorcycle boots get paired with a gold sequin trimmed jacket.
Joe Zee – I can identify with his style because it’s so practical, in a WASPy way. He’s wearing a suit, but he sensibly wears a water-resistant field jacket over it in the snow.
Elle’s fashion director Alexis Bryan wears a cropped fur jacket and elegant gold sheath dress. Note her patent leather nude slingbacks (Louboutins?): these will be huge in the spring.
