It doesn’t get more see-and-be-seen than the Chanel show in Paris, held on a bitterly cold morning at the Grand Palais. Ladies who lunch mixed with fashion editors and put their best foot (and shoes, and coats, and hats, and jewels…) forward.

One of several gray chinchilla coats at the show. Also, many Chanel bags, suits, and shoes were instantly recognizable – such is the power of the brand.

Women gathered outside the show before it started.

A gray suit and gray silk tie mixed with a black and white polka dot scarf.
I am loving the aristocratic Out of Africa look of these wide brim hats that keep popping up on chic women. Combining it with Ray Bans and a Chanel suit and bag is a great mix of sportswear and city wear on a cold day.
A beautiful ivory coat made of elaborately ruched/rosette fabric.
The urban chic of tough zipper boots and leggings paired with a tony gold-detail handbag and fur jacket.
A shearling cape and leather leggings.
A cropped Chanel jacket and bag are the perfect topper to wide-legged trousers and a studded belt.
Black and white and big sunglasses telegraph Chanel.
The new high-low uniform for cold city days: leopard print coat with a knit cap and sporty sunglasses.

The toned-down glamour of gray.
Love the bow and brooch detail.
Another great uniform for day: trench coat with a cross-body Chanel bag.
The hair! The makeup! The Chanel jacket and jewelry! This lady came dressed to the nines for the show.
Black and white fur jacket and long, lean black pants.
Plum Sykes in an ombre fur jacket, pleated black trousers and metallic open toe heels.
Ivory trousers in a cool pleated, cropped cut.
Gray socks are a means of winterizing strappy stilettos. Expect to see more of this look next fall.
Love her pixie haircut and the classic white blouse in a sharp shoulder cut, paired with a floral spring skirt and ivory bag. But she must have been very cold!
The dark piping on this army green trench takes it up a notch for more sophisticated occasions – especially when paired with over-the-knee boots.
Lots of layers: a fur vest, green body-con dress and leather leggings are sexy but warm.
Another wide brimmed hat confers a sporty, aristocratic look.
Fending off the cold with feathers.
Turbans were a glamorous and popular headgear choice this past fashion week.
Winter with a hint of spring: a gray fur covers a peach chiffon dress worn with white oxfords.
Nina Garcia in a sporty military look.

I die! The perfect outfit of oxblood suede and patent oxfords, khaki pants and a sleeveless trench, animal print sleeves, and again a great wide brimmed hat as the topper.
Love her cute schoolgirl look of the beret and leather folio.
Dramatic fringed layers over a black leather top and black mini.
