Meatpacking District, 1pm on a Tuesday

meatpacking-district-fashion-11Yesterday’s weather made for tricky dressing: the sunshine was brilliant, but it was quite cool in the shade. In the Meatpacking District, women wore white jeans, boots with skirts, leggings, and scarves to warm up summer clothing. Men ran the gamut in everything from shorts to tailored suits. Neutrals look nice, but bursts of color are popping up everywhere.

An unusual look, but noteworthy. Bouffant hair is showing up on men now too. Long live Duckie.

On her, white jeans dress down a suited look. Beautiful heels. On him – notice how pocket squares are worn now. Very spare.

This season, it’s all about accessories. Love the tassel necklace, embellished belt, sunglasses and studded gladiator sandals.

Striped v-neck cardigans are still going strong in menswear.

This neutral look is very Marc by Marc SS09.

Shoes are often the pop of color in otherwise neutral outfits.

An interesting twist on nautical stripes. DVF dress? It looks familiar.

I saw this woman in red shoes and a red bag on the subway. Then apparently she got out and bought a red drink.

I think this guy was talking when I took his photo? I have no other logical explanation of his expression. But like the combo of horn-rimmed glasses and gingham, which will be very big for guys this summer.

This layered look with a blazer is half preppy, half tough chick with the ripped jeans and biker boots. Also note the round sunglasses. This style is perfect; they summon up Kate Hudson in Almost Famous.

Great combination of a lightweight boyfriend blazer with a tight little skirt, retro sunglasses and – most surprisingly – pink espadrilles.

I was obsessed with this outfit and stalked her for a shot. It just looks so effortless – the summery white tunic paired with a shrunken bomber jacket and big brown boots, layered with leggings. To top it off, a simple metallic handbag.

  1. Just discovered your blog and it is great fun. I have one called Gourmet Chick which covers food and travel but not so much fashion unless I note the heels I was wearing to a restaurant!

  2. I want to start blogging too, what do you think, which blog cms is good for beginner?
