It was a dark and stormy Friday night, yet still the fashion folk (Joe Zee, Kate Lanphear, models and more) showed up for Texas model-turned-designer Erin Wasson, whose studied cool collection for RVCA has gained quite a following.
Three chic women. On the left, she feminizes a boyfriend blazer by cinching it at the waist with a wide black belt. Center – a great take on the ’80s look, with a studded leather jacket, black mini, and cowboy boots that nod to Erin Wasson’s Texas roots. Fabulous hair and makeup that’s ’80s-influenced without being over-the-top. Right, super skinny black jeans worn with a (faux?) fur vest over a tee for warmth.
If you’re still wondering how to wear black ankle boots, this photo should be your guide: just wear them as you would classic black pumps.
I like her True Blood-esque tee and cross necklace. The flared cut of this skirt is the way to go if you want to go short, and it looks especially good paired with black lace-up booties.
Orange makes another appearance for fall. Check out her amazing shoes.
A beautifully suited Joe Zee of Elle arrives with a model on his arm, naturally. For an amusing inside look at fashion week, follow him on Twitter.
The new little black suit: cropped trousers and a shrunken blazer – so chic, especially when paired with red lips. Worn with booties, it’s even practical for a rainy night.
Model in an Erin Wasson tee and bright red animal-print pumps.
Little red rain jacket and polka dot tights. Look for all kinds of interesting variations on tights and leggings this season.
An excellent example of how to wear white after Labor Day. There’s no need to save it for winter: Just wear white with a neutral palette. In this case a polka dot skirt livens things up.
Let’s face it: It rains so often in New York. So why is the raincoat an afterthought for most of us? It’s definitely worth investing in a fabulous piece like this shimmery azure trench. You might actually look forward to the next rainy day.
Kate Lanphear in menswear-inspired chic: a double-breasted tweed boyfriend blazer paired with skinny black jeans and some kickass boots. The necklace and metallic belt add a touch of glam rock.
