It was high-octane glamour outside the Calvin Klein show at their showroom off Seventh Avenue on Thursday. A celebrity contingent including Eva Mendes, Molly Sims, Miranda Kerr, Rose Byrne and Kerry Washington arrived to take in the show. And the rest of the attendees didn’t look too shabby, either.
Miranda Kerr in a beige Calvin Klein number that showed off the Victoria’s Secret Angel’s assets.
I thought he was wearing a scarf, but upon closer inspection, that’s a tie wrapped around his neck – very clever.
A photog with amazing street style. This outfit is secretly quite practical: Layered, for shedding clothing in the hot photo pit, and sporty for freedom of movement. Yet she doesn’t sacrifice style: love the lace leggings, starry scarf, ripped sleeves, and sweet kicks.
She arrived via pedicab. Adds another romantic touch to a dreamy, pretty dress.
Kelly Klein in a black dress and black ankle boots.
Beautiful in neutrals. Note that makeup for this fall is very low-key and natural, with the exception of the occasional pop of red lips. This is not really the year for the smoky eye.
Expect to see more of these neutral beiges come spring.
Anna Wintour, looking sharp and arriving right on time, as per usual. Her sweater calls to mind the recent Michael Kors collection with its cut-outs and panels.
Kerry Washington got a big reaction from the crowd when she arrived in a teal green Calvin Klein dress.
Lauren Santo Domingo, again working a high hemline, black ankle boots, and lots of leg. This time she’s paired the super feminine dress with a tweed boyfriend jacket.
Kate Lanphear, miraculously looking luminous on day eight of Fashion Week. The sleek and sexy minimalist look of all black clothes is taken up a notch with elaborate accessories: more studded bracelets and a studded bag.
Hamish Bowles in a blue suit and the surrealist trench coat imprinted with eyes. The fuchsia and blue tie is pretty sublime.
Fern Mallis in layered necklaces and a shirtdress tunic. She’s actually been wearing both these styles, now a trend, for a while now.
Eva Mendes in a beige silk Calvin Klein dress.
An excellent black and white look with an intriguing beaded statement necklace.
Virginia Smith of Vogue in a trench with a beautiful snake bag. The material is luxe, but the bag isn’t in-your-face luxury.
Grace Coddington wearing several black cardigans knotted at the neck like scarves. I think I see a trend: take something that is not a scarf and knot it at the neck.
Molly Sims in a gorgeous shimmery Calvin Klein column dress and gold booties.
More Molly Sims. The ponytail is just perfect for the Calvin Klein aesthetic: sleek and beautiful but all-American sporty.
Emmy nominee Rose Byrne in a sheer Calvin Klein top.
Two professorial looks. Menswear seems to have moved away from steam punk (thank God) and towards this sort of Oxford gentleman look. Think glasses, bow ties, short but quirky haircuts and clipped beards.
Animal print accessories are an easy way to launch your look into fall.
Off Seventh Avenue with Carine Roitfeld, French Vogue editor and muse extraordinaire to designers and artists everywhere.
And that’s it for fashion week, cheries! May you live fashionably ever after – or at least until next season.
